From the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad he acquired following qualifications with distinction, Master of Science (Hons.) in Medicine and Surgery (1988) and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (1986).
In addition to running his own clinic "Dr. Rana’s Pet Clinic" in E-7, Islamabad, he also is the Consultant Veterinarian, Zoo, Islamabad Consultant Veterinarian, Jungle Kingdom, Ayub Park, Rawalpindi and Consultant Veterinarian, World Society of Protection of Animals, NWFP, Pakistan.
